Field to Fork outdoor cooking on the Cornish coast with campfire food and coastal views

I’ve never really understood why camping food has to mean packet pasta, jet boils and eating off your knees. As a trained chef, that just wasn’t going to cut it, so I built my own field kitchen.

It’s a proper setup that lives in the back of the car. A two ring burner, a solid worktop, my knives, spices, a moka pot for coffee, everything I’d want to cook properly, just adapted for life on the road. Pull up, tent goes up, kitchen comes out and you’re ready to go.

The first time I took it out, people were stopping to ask what it was and what I was filming. It turns heads, it starts conversations and it proves a point. Camp cooking doesn’t have to be basic.

Field to Fork is about keeping things simple but making food that’s actually worth eating. Proper flavours, proper meals, just cooked in a field, usually with a beer in hand and a bit of chaos thrown in for good measure. It’s less polished, less serious and a lot more fun.

This episode marked a proper return to the camp kitchen and honestly…..it reminded me exactly why I fell in love with Field to Fork in the first place.

Simple ingredients, sunset cooking and proper comforting food after a day outdoors. This Turkey Mince Rice Bowl ended up being one of the easiest camp meals I’ve made so far, but also one of the most flavour packed. A good level of spice running through it, slightly sticky rice and an ice cold Corona on the side while the sun dropped into the Atlantic at Land’s End….perfection.

Turkey mince is massively underrated as well in my opinion. It’s super lean, far cheaper than beef mince and when cooked properly like this it’s genuinely delicious. This recipe also happens to be Slimming World friendly for anyone interested.

Field to Fork has always been about proving that camp cooking doesn’t need to be complicated to feel special. Good food, good atmosphere and simple outdoor living done properly.
